2025 MINI Cooper John Cooper Works

The iconic British hot hatch returns to MINI Vancouver and MINI Langley with fresh styling and a more powerful engine—while retaining the same plucky, go-kart-like driving demeanour.

For 2025, the MINI Cooper receives a complete overhaul. It features a brand-new exterior design with smoother body lines and updated lighting. The John Cooper Works version adds larger air intakes in the front bumper for improved cooling, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a rear diffuser with a single centrally mounted exhaust pipe. It’s a real standout in a world of crossover SUVs—especially when equipped with optional Chili Red bumper, hood, and roof accents.

The 2025 MINI Cooper JCW is also just as fast as it looks. The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 228 hp, matching the previous generation’s output, but torque increases to 280 lb-ft. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Cooper JCW can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. This sporty hot hatch can also stop just as quickly, thanks to large Brembo brake calipers.

What truly sets the MINI Cooper JCW apart, however, is its go-kart-like handling dynamics. It comes equipped with standard adaptive suspension, retuned to provide a balanced mix of sporty performance and everyday comfort. Its short wheelbase allows it to change direction quickly through corners, while a standard limited-slip differential helps keep power planted firmly on the road.

The sporty design continues throughout the interior of the new John Cooper Works. Unique seat upholstery, Chili Red accents, a JCW sport steering wheel, and paddle shifters reinforce the performance-focused atmosphere.

The centrepiece of the new MINI Cooper’s interior is the large 9.4-inch touchscreen. This display shows key vehicle information such as speed and fuel economy, while also providing access to navigation, media, climate controls, phone connectivity, and built-in apps. The infotainment system is highly customizable, offering multiple themes that alter both the display graphics and the ambient lighting throughout the cabin.

Thanks to these design updates, the interior of the MINI Cooper JCW feels modern and refined, with clean lines and a surprisingly spacious layout. A panoramic glass roof enhances the sense of openness, while 60/40 split-folding rear seats provide flexibility for carrying cargo.

The new MINI John Cooper Works starts at $55,900 CAD for the hardtop version, while the convertible starts at $62,900. Both are available now at MINI Vancouver and MINI Langley.
