2026 BMW iX

The BMW iX has been a hit among luxury EV shoppers since its introduction in 2022. And no wonder: it has great driving range, a spacious interior, and all the technology one could ask for. Now, the BMW iX is receiving a mid-cycle update—or, as BMW calls it, a Life Cycle Impulse (LCI)—to continue its upward trajectory.

One of the most noticeable changes to the 2026 BMW iX is its exterior styling tweak. When the iX was first introduced, there was some controversy about its design. For the 2026 model year, the iX receives updated headlights with vertical daytime running lights that look sharper than the horizontal ones of the previous model year. The large grille retains its overall shape, but it’s now available with an illuminated outline and vertical lines instead of the web-like design of the previous model. The sides and rear haven’t received any major changes.

A minor difference BMW enthusiasts may notice with the 2026iX is its trim names, which have all been given a higher number. For example, the xDrive40 is now the xDrive45, the xDrive50 is now the xDrive60, and the M60xDrive is now the M70 xDrive.

On the inside, the 2026 BMW iX doesn’t see any changes to its design. It still features an elegant dual-screen layout that sits on the dashboard, along with several leather colour options. The door-mounted seat switches and infotainment controls on the centre console are available in glass for a distinctive look. The seats provide support for many body types and can be equipped with a massage function to help drivers relax during long commutes.

To further help you reach your destination in a safe and relaxed manner, the 2026 iX can be equipped with a host of driver aids. For example, the Advanced Driver Assistance Package allows for hands-free driving on most highways. The hands-free mode can also be used to perform lane changes. If the car encounters slower traffic ahead, it will prompt the driver to check the left-hand side of the vehicle. When there’s an opening, the iX can automatically change lanes with just a turn of the driver’s head. There’s no need to touch the indicator stalk—the car activates the turn signals and completes the manoeuvre on its own.

Another added convenience is an increase in driving range. The 2026 iX contains a slightly larger battery, helping it achieve greater range across all trim levels—from as little as 449 km in the xDrive45 to asmuch as 586 km in the xDrive60. (It should be noted that wheel size may affect overall driving range.)

The bigger battery also provides a bump in power for all trim levels. The iX xDrive45 produces 402 hp, the xDrive60 produces 536 hp, andthe M70 xDrive produces 650 hp. The iX M70 xDrive can accelerate from 0–100km/h in as little as 3.8 seconds.

The 2026 xDrive45 starts at $89,900, the xDrive60 starts at $94,900, and the M70 xDrive starts at $129,900. The 2026 BMW iX is available now at The BMW Store in Vancouver and BMW Langley in the Fraser Valley.
