2026 Subaru Uncharted + Trailseeker

Subaru has built its reputation on vehicles that feel at home everywhere, from crowded city streets to remote trailheads. With the debut of two all-electric crossovers—the Trailseeker and the Uncharted—the brand further proves that its outdoors-ready DNA translates seamlessly into the age of electrification.

The Trailseeker and the Uncharted aren’t simply electric versions of familiar models. While they echo the Outback and the Crosstrek in spirit, both are distinct designs conceived to balance sustainable mobility with the utility and ruggedness Subaru fans expect. Together, they represent a forward-looking chapter for the brand while remaining devoted to the qualities that have built its loyal following.

The Trailseeker is the larger of the two newcomers, carrying the confidence of a long-roof wagon silhouette that feels instantly familiar to Outback drivers. What sets it apart is the dual-motor setup beneath the sheet metal, producing 375 hp and delivering immediate torque to all four wheels. Its 74.7 kWh battery supports a range of about 420 kilometres—enough to handle a round trip from Vancouver to Whistler with charge remaining for detours along the way. Despite its size, the Trailseeker can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in under five seconds, delivering a surge of performance that feels entirely new to the Subaru experience.

Practicality remains at the core of the Trailseeker. Ground clearance measures 8.3 inches, nearly matching the Outback’s ability to tackle rough gravel, muddy campground access roads, or snow-packed driveways. Cargo space is generous, with boxy proportions ready to accommodate mountain bikes, weekend luggage, or a full camping setup. Inside, the Trailseeker trades engine growl for a hushed, modern cabin anchored by a wide 14-inch touchscreen. Standard wireless charging and the calm atmosphere created by electric power make even long drives feel relaxing.

For drivers who prefer a more city-friendly Subaru, the Uncharted takes its place as the brand’s electric compact crossover. Closest in size and purpose to the gasoline-powered Crosstrek, the Uncharted launches with two compelling powertrain options. The standard model uses a single motor powering the front wheels with 221 hp and a projected range of 480 kilometres. A dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version boosts output to 338 hp with an estimated 460 kilometres of range between charges. This flexibility ensures the Uncharted appeals to both urban commuters and those who enjoy spirited driving on winding mountain routes.

True to Subaru form, the Uncharted also offers 8.3 inches of ground clearance, ensuring it’s ready for dirt trails, snowy ski runs, or the unpredictable surfaces that define Canadian seasons. The cabin, like the Trailseeker’s, features a 14-inch touchscreen and an upgraded design that feels quieter and more refined than the Crosstrek it complements. For city drivers who plan their weekends around escapes into nature, the Uncharted strikes an ideal balance of everyday usability and adventure-ready capability.

Both the Uncharted and the Trailseeker come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist suite, adding pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping support, and emergency stop assist. This technology lightens the load of long highway drives and heavy traffic, helping reduce fatigue while adding peace of mind.

In many ways, the Trailseeker and the Uncharted embody Subaru’s careful evolution. They retain the boxy utility, cargo space, and ground clearance that make the brand a trusted companion in Canada, while layering in the refinement, performance, and efficiency of electric power. By anchoring their identity in the traits Canadians rely on and boldly embracing electrification, Subaru has positioned the Trailseeker and the Uncharted as invitations to explore further, travel cleaner, and experience the outdoors in an entirely new way.
