Visually, the iX3 adopts a clean and architectural design language. The front fascia reinterprets the signature kidney grille by drawing inspiration from the iconic 1960s Neue Klasse models. Along the sides, flush door handles and smoother surfacing create a streamlined profile. This athletic silhouette is further defined by a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs that transition into a wide rear, where slim lighting and simplified surfaces create a grounded, contemporary look.
Inside, the iX3 centres its interior around BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system. The 43-inch-wide digital canvas can project widgets across the base of the windshield to display key information within the driver’s line of sight. The 17.9-inch central touchscreen runs the latest Operating System X with a simplified interface that reduces the need to navigate through layers of menus. With fewer physical controls and a cleaner layout, the cabin feels open and easy to use in everyday driving.
Beneath the surface, the iX3 debuts a sixth-generation electric powertrain built on an 800-volt architecture. With 463 horsepower and 476 pound-feet of torque available in the dual-motor 50 xDrive form, the SUV can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 4.9 seconds. That level of performance is matched by a driving range of 650 kilometres and a peak 400-kilowatt charge rate that recharges the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 21 minutes.
As the first Neue Klasse vehicle, the iX3 is less about replacing an existing model and more about redefining what a BMW electric SUV can be. By bringing together new technology and improved efficiency with a reimagined driving experience, it serves as a blueprint for a new generation of vehicles that will soon define the brand’s entire lineup.
