Silver Spirits

Shimmering and timeless, silver is the milestone colour that represents 25 years. As our parent company marks a quarter century under the name OpenRoad, we’re raising a glass (or a few) in celebration. From deliciously boozy concoctions to zero-proof elixirs suitable for all ages, each of these drinks captures the spirit of OpenRoad’s journey over the past two and a half decades: bold, spirited, and inspired by the possibilities ahead.

Angela Hansen and her team at Mocktails are reshaping Vancouver’s alcohol-free scene. Their flagship on Commercial Drive features a growing collection of sophisticated beverages and collaborations with top restaurants including LeCrocodile and the Four Seasons Whistler. Mocktails also curated Cornucopia Whistler’s first non-alcoholic space and offers nationwide delivery of elegantzero-proof gift baskets.

Angela shares two mocktails. The Sterling Spark combines Oddbird Blanc de Blancs, Everleaf Marine, lime juice, syrup, and soda, finished with a silver sugar rim. The Smoke & Steel mixes Dromme Awake, Cut Above mezcal, white cranberry juice, agave, and orange bitters, served over silver ice cubes with a shimmered garnish.

For those seeking a spirited celebration, Vancouver mixologist Dylan Riches crafted two silver-themed cocktails. The Silver Needle Fizz reimagines a gin fizz using sake and shochu infused with Silver Needle tea, creating a delicate floral balance. The Silver Linings transforms a Rosita cocktail with Patrón Silver, fino sherry, Junmai Genshu sake, and Bitter Bianco, proving that “good can come from even the more bitter things in life.”

Riches, beverage director for Gaia House and other restaurants, brings over a decade of experience, including time at Michelin-starred Published on Main and Hong Kong’s The Old Man, ranked among the world’s best bars. He continues to elevate Vancouver’s cocktail scene, with Selene Aegean Bistro shortlisted for Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants 2025.

At AMA Raw Bar in Vancouver’s Fraserhood, guests can experience Riches’ Japanese-inspired creations in a sleek, intimate setting—a fitting toast to 25 years of OpenRoad’s silver spirit.
